Espigueiro-Pombal do Cruzeiro
REFÚGIO CONTEMPLATIVO
Construídos originalmente no final do século XIX, os dois espigueiros tradicionais sobre bases graníticas foram mais tarde um pombal, quando uma cobertura os uniu. Finalmente, o espaço entre ambos os espigueiros usou-se para a secagem de cereais. Sob um projeto de Tiago do Vale Arquitetos, o Espigueiro-Pombal do Cruzeiro, em Ponte de Lima, foi reconstruído e transformado, sendo agora uma fusão de casa na árvore e refúgio contemplativo. A sua execução não foi isenta de problemas. Sem manutenção adequada durante muito tempo, a madeira rapidamente decaiu, mas, mesmo assim, permitiu a documentação integral do desenho e das técnicas construtivas do edifício tal como ele era. O Espigueiro-Pombal do Cruzeiro é agora um santuário entre as copas das árvores, uma forma icónica na paisagem rural minhota. Recentemente foi distinguido com o terceiro prémio no International Design Awards na categoria de Arquitetura Sustentável.
CONTEMPLATIVE REFUGE
Originally built at the end of the 19th century, the two traditional granaries on granite bases later became a dovecot, when a roof was built to join them. Finally, the space between both granaries was used for drying cereals. Following a project by Tiago do Vale Architects, the Espigueiro-Pombal do Cruzeiro, in Ponte de Lima, has been rebuilt and transformed, to now become a fusion of tree house and contemplative refuge. Its execution was not without its problems. Without adequate maintenance for many years, the wood had quickly decayed, but, nevertheless, it enabled the full documentation of the design and constructive techniques of the building as it was. The Espigueiro-Pombal do Cruzeiro is now a sanctuary among the treetops, an iconic shape within the Minho countryside. It was recently distinguished with the third award at the International Design Awards in the Sustainable Architecture category.
