Nella zona del Minho, in Portogallo, Tiago do Vale ha ricostruito un piccolo manufatto di fine Ottocento a Ponte de Lima, nato come granaio per il mais e colombaia. Non potendo sanare la struttura originaria a causa dell’avanzato degrado del legno, do Vale ha scelto un approccio molto simile a quello che caratterizza i templi giapponesi di Ise Jingu, che ogni vent’anni vengono ricostruiti identici. Aggiornato alla funzione di spazio per il relax e il tempo libero, il granaio è stato smontato e ricostruito ex novo, pezzo per pezzo. L’introduzione di alcune migliorie di carattere strutturale e funzionale permettono oggi una rinnovata fruizione di questo piccolo “tempio agrario”, come do Vale lo definisce, a stretto contatto con la natura.
In the Minho region, in Portugal, Tiago do Vale has reconstructed a small building dating from the late 19th century at Ponte de Lima, originally used as a granary for maize and a dovecote. Not being able to reclaim the original structure owing to the advanced state of decay of the wood, the architect has chosen an approach similar to the one taken with the temples at Ise Jingu in Japan, which are rebuilt in identical fashion every twenty years. Updated to perform the function of a space for relaxation and leisure, the granary was dismantled and reconstructed from scratch, piece by piece. The introduction of some improvements made it possible to now use this little “treehouse-temple”, as do Vale calls it, in close contact with nature.
